“Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.”
(Frank Lloyd Wright)
Chiropractic is a system of manual medicine focusing on the alignment of the body.
Through gentle forces applied to the body’s joints and tissues, chiropractic medicine helps the body heal from acute and chronic ailments of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.
The aim of chiropractic is to align the joints of the spine and balance the tone of the muscles and organs, achieving health through optimal structural fitness. For this reason, chiropractic treatment is focused primarily on treating the body’s joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Chiropractic treatment may include:
- Spinal and extremity manipulation
- Soft tissue massage
- Trigger point therapy
- Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (also called IASTM, Graston™, Gua Sha, or simply “scraping”)
- Nutritional consultation
- Hot/cold therapy
- Prescription of exercises to do at home
Some common conditions treated by chiropractic include: injury from automobile accidents, headaches, back pain, herniated discs, sports injuries, poor digestion, nerve pain, and strain from repetitive motions.
